Finding the Best Birkenstock Naples Dupes: 5 That Actually Look the Part

These are the five worth knowing about, collated by DupeFinder.

The Birkenstock Naples Clogs

The Birkenstock Naples takes the familiar clog silhouette and makes it feel considerably more polished. With its backless loafer shape, moccasin-style stitching and chunky footbed, it sits somewhere between a traditional loafer and the kind of easy slip-on shoe Birkenstock does so well.

And honestly, we do get the hype. It’s an easier shoe to style than the Boston, but still has that relaxed Birkenstock feel. The shape works particularly well with straighter-leg jeans or tailored trousers and socks, while the suede finish keeps it from looking too formal.

The Naples isn’t exactly a throw-on-and-forget-about-it purchase at £155, though. The suede version comes with Birkenstock’s anatomically shaped cork-latex footbed and a two-part EVA and rubber sole, so you’re paying for more than the look. But if it’s primarily the silhouette you’re after, that price does leave quite a lot of room to find a convincing alternative.

That’s where the dupes come in. We wanted options that captured the specific things that make the Naples appealing – the backless loafer shape, moccasin detailing and substantial sole – rather than simply rounding up every suede mule we could find. These are the five that actually caught our eye and made the DupeFinder cut.

Our favourite Naples dupes

1. M&S Suede Saddle Loafer Corkbed Mules

At £38, these M&S mules are one of the closest alternatives we’ve found to the Naples – and there’s a pretty good reason they’ve made the cut. The suede upper, backless loafer shape and corkbed sole give them the same relaxed-but-put-together feel, without looking like a generic mule that’s been included just for the sake of it.

The shape is particularly convincing from the side, with that substantial sole giving them more of the Naples’ chunky profile than many of the cheaper alternatives we’ve come across. They’re also the kind of shoe that makes sense beyond this particular trend: easy with jeans, wide-leg trousers or a pair of socks when the weather turns colder.

And we’re not the only ones making the comparison. M&S shoppers have specifically called these a great-value alternative to the Birkenstock Naples, which is unusually direct evidence for a dupe rather than us simply deciding two shoes look vaguely alike.

At £38, we’d say these are a particularly strong option if you want the Naples look without compromising too much on the details that make the original work. I’ve also tried these on myself and I LOVE them, especially in the Taupe colour. They’re also super comfy and true to size.

Annoyingly, the women’s are currently out of stock so I can’t link them at the moment. I did spot some still in the M&S at Manchester Arndale a couple of days back, but you’ll have to be quick. If you’re a size 6+, then they’re also available in men’s on the site – Suede Saddle Loafer Corkbed Mules.

2. ASOS DESIGN Miller Chunky Loafer Mules

At £32, the ASOS DESIGN Miller is one of the more convincing budget options if it’s specifically the shape of the Naples you’re after. The taupe suedette upper, chunky flat sole and moulded footbed give it that substantial, slightly clunky profile, while the slip-on mule construction keeps the back completely open — all key parts of what makes the Naples distinctive.

The Miller doesn’t copy the Naples detail-for-detail, and that’s actually why we like it. The upper is simpler and the proportions aren’t quite as refined, but from the side it has that same low, substantial loafer shape rather than the slimmer silhouette you get from a traditional mule. The taupe colour also works particularly well here, keeping the overall look close to the soft suede tones of the Birkenstock.

The other thing in its favour is the moulded footbed. It’s not the same anatomically shaped cork-latex footbed you’d get from Birkenstock, but it gives the Miller a more substantial feel underfoot than a completely flat fashion mule.

At £32, we think this is a particularly good pick if you’re buying for the look. It doesn’t have the premium materials or construction of the Naples, but visually, it gets much closer than the price would suggest.

3. Topshop Addie Real Suede Mule Loafer

The Topshop Addie is probably the most polished-looking of the lower-priced options on our list. At £46, it’s made from real suede and has the details you’d expect from a proper loafer: a penny-style front, textured upper and moulded footbed, all finished with a backless silhouette.

What makes it work as a Naples dupe is the combination of those details rather than any one feature. The exposed heel gives it the same easy mule shape, while the suede upper and loafer-style front keep the shoe looking substantial rather than like a flat slip-on. The moulded footbed is another nice touch, adding some of the visual weight you get from the Birkenstock’s distinctive footbed.

It’s worth pointing out that the Addie has a slimmer sole and rounder toe than the Naples, so this isn’t the closest match if you’re trying to replicate the chunky Birkenstock shape exactly. But we actually think the slightly neater proportions make it a more versatile option if you want something that reads as a loafer first and a Naples-inspired shoe second.

It’s also one of the more versatile options on the list when it comes to colour. The Addie comes in a surprisingly wide range of shades, so you’re not limited to the usual brown or taupe suede – and there’s even a shearling-lined version that feels particularly well suited to autumn and winter. My particular favourite is the Khaki.

At £46, we’d choose these if you want the idea of the Naples but would prefer something a little more refined. The real suede, choice of colours and winter-friendly shearling option make it feel like a shoe worth buying in its own right, rather than simply a cheaper stand-in for the Birkenstock.

4. New Look Brown Faux Suede Flat Loafer Mules

At £27.99, these New Look mules are probably the strongest budget match for the Naples on the list. The design gets several of the important details right: a brown faux-suede upper, square toe, penny-slot detail across the vamp and top-stitched toe box, finished with a flat sole and completely backless shape.

That square toe is what really sets these apart. The Naples has a more substantial, slightly squared-off front than a traditional rounded loafer, and that detail makes a surprising difference to how convincing a dupe looks. Add the loafer-style vamp and visible stitching and these feel much more considered than your average £28 mule.

Obviously, there are compromises at this price. They’re faux suede rather than real suede, and the sole doesn’t have the same chunky corkbed construction as the Birkenstock. But if you’re mainly interested in recreating the Naples’ distinctive loafer-meets-mule silhouette, those differences are much less noticeable once they’re on.

They’re also vegan, which makes them a useful alternative if you’d rather avoid the suede and leather construction of the original. At under £30, we’d say these are a particularly good find – especially if you want the Naples look without spending anywhere near £155.

5. Dune Goldens Suede Backless Mule Loafers

At £109, the Dune Goldens are the premium option in our edit – and while they aren’t a carbon copy of the Naples, they’re close enough in the details that we think they earn their place.

The brown suede upper, backless construction and loafer-style vamp immediately give them the same feel as the Birkenstock. There’s that distinctive band across the front of the foot, while the substantial shape keeps them looking more like a proper loafer than a delicate mule. The toe is slightly rounder than the Naples, which is the main visual difference between the two, but the overall proportions still feel very much in the same family.

This is also the pair we’d look at if you like the Naples aesthetic but don’t necessarily want something that looks obviously like a Birkenstock. The Dune version feels more traditional and polished, so it could easily slot into a wardrobe of tailored trousers, denim and knitwear without looking too casual.

The trade-off is the price. At £109, you’re only £46 away from the £155 Naples, so these aren’t the obvious choice if you’re simply trying to spend as little as possible. But if you want a proper suede loafer mule with the Naples’ backless shape, rather than a budget fashion dupe, they’re a much more considered alternative.

I’ve also just spotted that Dune have created a gorgeous shearling variation called the Goldy. Again, my favourite are the Khaki Goldies, but these are definitely worth taking a look at to keep your toes cosy in the colder months!

FAQs about Birkenstock Naples

How much does the Birkenstock Naples cost?

The Birkenstock Naples currently costs £155 in the UK, making the high-street alternatives considerably cheaper. You can usually get a pair in the sale for around £100, but they might not be your colour of choice.

Comfort varies between styles. The Birkenstock Naples has its anatomically shaped cork-latex footbed, while the dupes use different footbeds and sole constructions. If comfort is your priority, it’s worth checking the specific construction of each pair rather than assuming a similar-looking shoe will feel the same.

Birkenstock’s sizing can feel a little different from standard high-street shoes, particularly because of the brand’s footbed shape. The Naples is available in whole EU sizes, and Birkenstock recommends leaving around 5 mm of space at the front and back of the foot for a proper fit. If you’re between sizes, it’s worth checking Birkenstock’s individual size guide rather than automatically sizing up or down.
